Process and fees

Transparent, predictable fees

Fees reflect the nature and complexity of the matter and the work it is expected to involve. For each matter, we choose the fee structure below that fits it best.

Fee structures

How I charge

Hourly rate

based on time spent

For advice, negotiations and complex matters where the workload is hard to estimate in advance. Billing is itemised, showing the exact time spent.

Fixed fee

depending on the nature and value of the matter

For well-defined tasks: company formation, changes in registration, simpler contracts, statements of claim. The amount is agreed in advance.

Percentage fee

for real estate transactions, based on the transaction value

For property sales and other real estate transactions, the fee is a set percentage of the transaction value and covers contract drafting, attorney escrow and the land registry procedure. Depending on the complexity of the transaction, it ranges from 0.5% to 1% of the transaction value, subject to a minimum of HUF 200,000.

Hearing fee

in litigation, per hearing

Charged per court hearing, depending on the complexity of the case and the hearing location.

Bespoke fee

based on the specific matter

For complex or unusual matters, the fee is tailored to the specific tasks and may combine the structures above, for example a fixed fee plus an hourly rate.

Free initial consultation

up to 30 minutes

Our first conversation shows whether and how I can help, and gives you a sense of how I work. That is why I do not charge for it: you can decide, with no obligation, whether you would like to work with me.

No value added tax (VAT) is charged on my fees, so the agreed fee is the total amount payable.

Process

How a matter progresses

I.

Initial consultation

We start with a short conversation, in person, by phone or online, to understand the situation, agree the scope of the matter and clarify your objectives. I then review the relevant documents.

II.

Fee proposal

Having reviewed the documents, I send you a fee proposal by e-mail (hourly, fixed, percentage-based or, where the matter calls for it, a bespoke arrangement), and we agree the terms of the engagement.

III.

Working on your matter

Once you accept the proposal, I prepare the necessary documents and filings, represent you throughout, and keep you informed of every significant development.

IV.

Closing and final account

When the matter is concluded, I provide an itemised account of the work done, depending on the fee arrangement, and, where necessary, retain the documents for the statutory period.

What the attorney’s fee does not cover

The attorney’s fee covers the legal services themselves. Depending on the type of matter, additional costs may arise in connection with the proceedings, which are borne by the client. These include, for example:

  • duties and procedural fees (courts, land registry, court of registration);
  • notary fees, for example in payment order proceedings;
  • expert fees and the cost of certified title deeds.

Request a proposal

Send me a brief summary of your matter, together with any relevant documents. Once I have reviewed them, I will e-mail you a fee proposal.
